Dr. Nic is a 2019 graduate of Logan University in St Louis MO. While pursuing his doctorate in chiropractic, he also received a master's degree in sports science and rehabilitation. While in school, Dr. Nic was very active in clubs and as a tutor. He was the president of the motion palpation institute club at his school, providing lectures to classmates on both adjustments and rehabilitation techniques. He also tutored both anatomy and neuroanatomy to his classmates. Dr. Nic also attended over 500 contact hours of continuing education coursework in adjustment techniques, dynamic neuromuscular stabilization, acupuncture, dry needling, soft tissue therapy, and more.
Before chiropractic school, Dr. Nic ran cross country and track at Adams State University. He graduated in 2016 with a degree in sports psychology. During his time at Adams State, he also discovered a love for the outdoors of Colorado and found a passion for rock climbing, trail running, and skiing.
When not practicing or enjoying the outdoors, Nic enjoys reading, cooking, and teaching.
Dr. Nic also writes not only for the blog on SCR3, but for academic publications and websites as well. He has written on a variety of topics ranging from chronic spine pain to how to properly rehabilitate an ankle sprain. Click on the links below to check out some of his writings.
Since graduation, Dr. Nic has also continued his education to become a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®), as well as becoming attaining the MDT certification. The CCSP is an indicator of specific education and experience in working with and treating athletic populations.
MDT stands for Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy. This is a method that is designed to empower you to understand the nature of your symptoms and how they respond to exercises and movements. This is not a cookie cutter approach, and is designed to give you the specific exercises and rehabilitation to help you improve in the most cost effective manner. Research indicates that trained and certified MDT clinicians are more effective in evaluating and helping patients with MDT than non-certified clinicians (Halliday et al., 2019).
